MSNR Storyline Scanner: Malaysian support and resistance with a multi-timeframe storyline

Malaysian SNR (MSNR) draws support and resistance from candle bodies instead of wick extremes. An A-level is a peak of the close line: a bullish candle followed by a bearish one, with the level at the close of the bullish candle. A V-level is the mirror image: a bearish candle followed by a bullish one. This scanner also supports a second, documented variant that takes pivots of the close, and an open-close gap level; the variants are never mixed silently.

Every level has a life cycle that is stored as an append-only history: created, fresh (never touched), tested (a wick or body reached it but no candle closed through it), broken (a candle closed beyond it), flipped (after a break, a retest from the other side held, so resistance became support, RBS, or support became resistance, SBR) and invalidated. A wick touch and a close through the level are always treated separately, and a close back across a freshly broken level is counted as a failed breakout.

What the storyline is

The storyline answers four questions: where price is coming from, where it is heading, which levels are in the way and what would cancel the scenario. The direction comes from the market structure of the weekly, daily, 4-hour and 1-hour charts (higher highs and higher lows, lower highs and lower lows, break of structure and change of character). Three alignment modes are available: strict, balanced and an experimental counter-trend mode. When timeframes disagree the state is Conflict and no confident setup is produced.

The destination is always a real, detected opposing level. Intermediate opposing levels are shown as roadblocks. If there is no opposing level ahead, the scanner reports NO_VALID_TARGET and rejects the setup. It never invents a target as a multiple of ATR.

How setups are found and what they are not

A setup moves through the states watching, approaching level, level test, confirmation pending, setup ready, triggered, invalidated or expired. It needs a fresh, tested or flipped level that agrees with the storyline, a confirmation on a closed candle (a rejection wick, a close beyond the touch candle, a retest of a flipped level or a Quasimodo confirmation), a structural stop and a target level with an acceptable risk to reward ratio. The entry is the open of the candle after the confirmation, so the page never shows a price that was impossible to trade.

Everything uses closed candles only: higher-timeframe candles are released after they close, swing points are known only after the confirming bars, and the engine gives the same output whether or not later candles exist. The historical test is run on MT5 gold data with fees, a train and test split and a control that trades the same signals in the opposite direction. This page is a map for study, not a trading signal, and the label high probability is not used.

Questions and answers

What is the difference between an A-level and a V-level?

An A-level is resistance built from the close of a bullish candle that is followed by a bearish candle. A V-level is support built from the close of a bearish candle that is followed by a bullish candle.

What do RBS and SBR mean?

RBS means resistance becomes support and SBR means support becomes resistance. A level flips only after a candle closed through it and a retest from the other side held.

Why does the scanner sometimes say NO_VALID_TARGET?

Because there is no opposing structural level ahead of price. The scanner does not replace a missing level with a distance based on volatility.

Is this a buy or sell signal?

No. It lists levels, a scenario and the conditions that would cancel it. Nothing is traded automatically and no probability of profit is given.
